Our Story
Where We Started
We were created in 1998 as a joint venture between SWARCO AG and SKIDATA AG to be the sole supplier of SKIDATA hardware and software to the UK market.
Starting out with gates, barriers, and payment machines, providing revenue protecting solutions for your car parks.
We added stadium and venue entry into our portfolio to ensure maximum comfort for your guests with flawless person separation through our industry leading gates.
Where We Are Now
Now, we are at the forefront of the digital revolution. Our hardware solutions remain at the core of our business, and we complement our core with digital offerings, transforming your business into a digital ecosystem, improving your customers’ journey.
In parking, we provide mobile first online bookings & subscriptions, autopay & pay later for registered users. Combined with simple mobile payments on site to ensure every option is available for your customers. Adding in centralised control and reporting portals for the easiest way to manage your estate from anywhere. Utilise our Subscription Solution to cover your software requirements to ensure you will always be up to date across your car parks.
Our Parking as a Service solution means you can have your entire car park with nothing to pay upfront on a 5-year subscription, transforming P&D or smaller barriered sites into efficient revenue generating car parks.
In stadium and venues, we provide full integration into online ticketing providers, with mobile first, digital ticketing, reduced ticket handling costs, fraud prevention, and increasing convenience and speed for quick and simple entry.

Meet the team
Steve Murphy
Managing Director
Steve has worked historically in security operations, starting out in engineering, and working in various Project Management and Service Management roles. Later in his career he has focussed on the commercial side of business becoming a Product Manager. For the past 5 years he has worked within the Parking and EV charging industries.
As Managing Director, Steve utilises the state-of-the-art SKIDATA solutions in innovative ways to build creative financial and business models. He is focused on digitising the service and maintenance solutions which allows APT SKIDATA to keep sites up to date and generating revenue.
Steve is a qualified counsellor and volunteers at a local hospital helping children with trauma. He is also a keen runner and balances exercise perfectly with online gaming with family and friends.
Rob Tutt
Head of Operations
Rob has worked in Management roles for the last 23 years, 19 years in the Security industry, 4 years in Home Automation and 3.5 years in Power Electronics.
In Rob’s early career, he managed Customer Service, Sales, and Service Teams. Thereafter, he’s held Operations Director/Head of Operations roles.
The Parking and EV industry offers a new challenge, especially with the transition to a digital world. Rob thrives on building successful, customer focussed teams that deliver high standards of service.
Rob is a school governor and enjoys playing golf, travelling, concerts, theatre, and spending time with family and friends.
Adam Stout
Head of Sales
Adam started in B2B Sales straight from university and has a background in Transportation Solutions, Critical Communications and Electronic Security. For the last 10 years he has led teams to deliver sales performance with a focus on developing technologies in key sectors such as CNI, Airports, Healthcare, Retail, and high value property Asset Management.
Adam sees effective communication as being vital to ensure that we understand what our customers need and to enable our team to serve them effectively.
Time away from work is spent playing golf and cricket and spending family time with his wife and sons.
Tony Marvell
Head of Professional Services
Tony’s background in integrated engineering started in medical device maintenance but was always shadowed by general interest in IT services. After joining APT SKIDATA in 1999 Tony has developed skills in IT service provisioning to support the services and products within APT SKIDATA (It’s not just a carpark).
Now within the role Professional services manager a team of highly skilled and experienced engineers design systems for sales and investigate new solutions for APT SKIDATA.
Outside work Tony needs to have projects either working on home improvements, Gardening, or spending time with his family enjoying Gym time. He will quite often be seen at the new restaurant trying new cuisine and then at the cinema enjoying a film.
Derek McLean
Head of Product
Derek started his career in product design, diverted into IT and then onto telecoms and data networks. He progressed into solution development and then found his true passion – product – development, management, and marketing.
He is a firm believer that great businesses are built on strong solutions developed with unique value propositions that are clear, concise, and focused on customer challenges & opportunities.
Passionate about technology, design & innovation and in the possibilities they can offer, but happiest in the countryside with his family and the dogs.
